ISKCON TEMPLES-THE HARE KRISHNA MOVEMENT

ISKCON Temples commonly known as Hare Krishna temples are the most famous temples of Lord Krishna in India and in the world which are maintained by the ISKCON, The International Society for the Consciousness of Krishna. I wish to share the some of the brief details about the ISKCON temples, let’s get started.

HISTORY OF ISKCON TEMPLE

ISKCON, The International Society for the Consciousness of Krishna, which is known as the Hare Krishna Movement or the Hare Krishna Movement, is a Hindu Gaudiya Vaishnava religious organization was established in the year 1966 by His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami.

It was the religious reformer and Saint Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu who taught and codified its traditions and customs, devotees regard him as the incarnation of Lord Krishna.

Their main belief is based on the Hindu scriptures, in particular the Bhagavad Gita and the Bhagavata Purana, and on the tradition of the Gaudiya Vaishnava, with Indian adherents since the late 15th century and American and European devotees since the early 1900s.

The association was founded for the propagation of the Bhakti yoga tradition, the tradition of God’s devotion, through which those concerned dedicate their thoughts and actions to satisfy the Supreme Lord Krishna. Its most rapid enlargement in terms of membership in India.

ISKCON devotees and supporters believe that you can be liberated from anxiety through the development of pure spiritual science and that therefore, the organization aims to spread spiritual knowledge to the members of society to help them to control the imbalances in life values and achieve genuine peace and unity.

The ISKCON temples are complexes, which not only contain the deities’ images but also are Vedic learning institutions. These complexes comprise schools, restaurants, and social services, such as the Akshaya Patra Foundation (APF), an initiative that was launched in Bangalore to provide food for those in need.

These temples are not only located across India, but they are also built and dispersed throughout a range of nations, such as the USA, the UK, Canadians, etc.

ISKCON TEMPLE IN BANGALORE

The ISKCON Temple is a venerable shrine, located in the Rajajinagar, dedicated to Lord Krishna. The temple was opened in 1997 by Shankar Dayal Sharma the then president of India under the supervision of Madhu Pandit Dasa. The ISKCON Temple is a complex of cultural sites, apart from a religious shrine, which hosts dedicated deities like Sri Radha Krishnachandra, Sri Krishna Balarama, Sri Nitai Gauranga, Sri Srinivasa Govinda, and Sri Prahlada Narasimha.

The architecture of the ISKCON temple in Bangalore is a gorgeous building that is recognized as the world’s biggest ISKCON complex. The temple ‘s distinguishing feature is its 17-meter high gold-plated flag post accompanied by its 8.5 meters high gold-plated Kalash Shikharas. This ISKCON temple is an example of the neoclassical form of architecture and adorned with the most intricate stone carvings.

ISKCON Vrindavan was also known as Sri Krishna Balaram Mandir, and a dream fulfilled by Swami Prabhupada (ISKCON founder-acharya), who wanted to build the temple for the brothers Krishna and Balaram in the same Sacred City, where they played with each other several centuries ago.

Located in Vrindavan’s Raman Reti, ISKCON Temple is now one of the biggest attractions in the region and is packed with devotees from Delhi and across the world. The Aarti and Bhagavad Geeta classes held here each day are spellbound to visitors to the divine temple.

As the name implies, Lord Krishna and Lord Balarama are the main gods of this temple, whose idols are placed in the main altar. Raha Krishna’s idols are on the right altar, with Lalita, Vishaka, and Gopi, and the idols of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu and his spiritual tutor are located on the left.

The ISKCON Lord Krishna Temple of Tirupati is situated on the road to the hills of Tirumala. It has a distinctive theme of the design of white and gold buildings. The statues of Lord Narasimha Swamy, Lord Krishna, Krishna Leela and Lord Varaha Swamy on the walls are magnificent.

The windows have glass pictures of Lord Krishna ‘s friendly acts. The ceilings are adorned with art in the Tanjore style. Lord Vishnu ‘s ten avatars are grafted on the temple pillars. The sanctuary is surrounded by Lord Krishna and Gopis. There is also a lovely park with gorgeous gardens, pools, fountains, and Krishna Leela idols within the temple.

The temple of ISKCON, also known in the form of Radha Parthasarathi, is a temple devoted to Lord Krishna and Radharani. It was established on the Hare Krishna Hills in eastern Kailash in the New Delhi region in 1998 by Achyut Kanvinde. It is headquartered here.

Sri Sri Radha Parthasarathi Mandir is the real name of this shrine.

The temple complex is also a learning center for Vedic science, as well as a number of lectures and addresses for the benefit of devotees. The center hall is the reverberation of Hare Rama Hare Krishna ‘s heavenly tune, which is the core theme of ISKCON Delhi.

Special prayer services are called on Sundays, and the Janmashtami festival is celebrated very vigorously here. The temple of ISKCON now contains a museum holding interactive exhibitions of great epics such as Mahabharata and Ramayana.

The followers hold meetings in institutes, companies, etc. to teach the spiritualizing techniques of everyday life. The continuous singing of the holy names is a special function of the middle.

Sri Sri Krishna Balarama Mandir is the second most famous Temple in Odisha after the Jagannath Mandir in Puri and the region around the temple is Bubaaneswar’s fast-growing portion.

ISKCON Surat functions with the same goal as Shrila Prabhupada. The lovely residential residence of the Lord Shri Shri Radha Damodar, on the bank of the Tapi River is about 15 km from the railway station and bus station. Shrila Prabhupada visited Surat in 1970, a moment in the Life of Lord Shri Shri Radha Damodar’s devotees.

The premises with a small Lord Krishna temple were received by the Kanahiyal trust Jahangirpura in 1978, which covers an area of 900sq.ft. It is today one of the most well known and greatest temples of the town of Surat and has an area of approximately 13,600 sq.ft.

The one in Anantapur is just as beautiful, like all ISKCON temples built all over the world. The temple is in the form of a horse-drawn chariot and at the entrance, there are statues of four huge horses. It was inaugurated in February 2008 and is known as the Radha Parthasarathi Temple.

By night, as the lamps illuminate its walls, the lovely temple appears much better. Janmashtami, the birthday of Lord Krishna is the most prestigious festival.

The Temple buildings have a Vedanta Patashala, conference rooms, kirtan room, restaurant, and garden. This temple honors Sri Krishna Janamashtami with pomp and gaiety.

Krishna’s stories are well portrayed on the outer walls of the main temple. Walls inside the temple (main hall) are painted with Gurus and Vishnu stories.

The temple complex is clean and a nice garden is maintained.

The ISKCON temple in Pune is recognized as the ISKCON New Vedic Centre or the ISKCON NVCC. The temple is in a serene and peaceful environment, inaugurated in 2013 by our former President Pranab Mukherjee. The temple has many events, such as young people ‘s school, Bhagavad Gita lectures, and so on, apart of the housing temples of Krishna and Lord Balarama.
